As the the alpha approaches the graphical assignments for it get’s spread thinner and thinner. so for this week i started work on assets that we might get to use later on in the project, we do like to plan ahead.
These Posters will work as two different types of high score screens. The one on the left is for a player victory and the one on the right is for player loss.The players score willed be placed where the it says lives lost and killed respectively and player name will be instead of “The Enemy”. Now that might look weird with the words victory written on the loss screen but as you might have gathered this is supposed to be seen from the aliens point of view and maybe give the impression that the cute giraffe protagonist is not so cute after all. now this was supposed to be a surprise joke but since i had to explain the joke it now stopped being funny.
i wanted the posters to have this world war 2 propaganda kind of feel to them with the color scheme and the layout. I looked mostly at the Russian and American but didn’t really find anything that fit for the “Saved” poster. i fond better inspiration with posters that had tried to mimic the style of the 50’s rather than the actual posters from the era itself.
So far I am happy with the look of the posters especially the the Victory one. They still need work though mostly with the layout. The “Saved” ones words are not entirely straight and the “Join” is probably not exactly centered, maybe add some sort of texture to give them a more papery look.
I have been thinking of doing them in Illustrator instead of Photoshop But i haven’t used the program before so I’m hesitant to use it. But I have People that can help me with that and plenty off time to learn the program (I hope) so it might be the best course of action, and hey! it’s always good to learn new stuff.
All in all I’m still happy with the current result but I’ll keep polishing on them. The joke probably needs some foreshadowing or buildup to work, maybe i change the idea completely who knows, future problems i guess.

I understood very well what you have been doing this week. Nice idea to use propaganda posters as win statements and lose statements. Also, great that you did some research for that task. You pretty much got everything covered, and your work progress is easy to follow. I thank you for being self-critical, because that makes my job much easier to do. Yes, the word “Saved” needs to be straightened and not just “Join”, but the entire text on the win statement needs to be more centered. By the way, are you sure that you want a paper texture on the posters? Do they have wood on the planet were the aliens come from and/or would they rather use something more modern and digital?
The text was however only understandable when I were able to decipher what you meant to write. There are a lot of grammar errors. I am not supposed to judge how the text is constructed and it won’t necessary affect how I value this blog post, which I for the matter of fact think has a high value due to the text otherwise being really informative (and I really like the idea about using propaganda posters as win and lose statements). But if you want your readers to understand better about what you have been doing, then you have to check your text one or two last times before you upload it.
